  • How Should Greenhouse Ventilation Work?

Effective greenhouse ventilation removes excess heat and humidity while maintaining uniform, controlled air exchange at crop level.

Core Ventilation Components

  • Roof Vents: Allow rising warm air to escape naturally.
  • Side Vents: Introduce fresh air at crop level in a controlled way.
  • Circulation Fans: Reduce local pockets of heat and humidity.
  • Insect Screens: Limit pest entry and must be included in airflow calculations.

How Is the Right Capacity Determined?

Vent area and fan capacity should be calculated from greenhouse volume, outdoor design temperature, crop density and insect-screen pressure loss. Too little ventilation raises disease risk, while too much can increase energy consumption.
